CHARACTER & LEADERSHIP

INSPIRING TOMORROW'S LEADERS

Programs in Character and Leadership Development empower youth to support and influence our Club and island community, sustain meaningful relationships with others, develop a positive self‐image, participate in the democratic process and respect their own and others' cultural identities.

YOUTH OF THE MONTH

The Youth of the Month honor is earned by one member each month in recognition of their strong leadership, good character, and commitment to service. This member is chosen after discussion with all staff.

MILLION MEMBERS: MILLION HOURS OF SERVICE

Studies show that young people who engage in service do better in school, maintain positive relationships with adults and avoid risky behaviors. The Million Members, Million Hours of Service initiative aims to engage 1 million Boys & Girls Club youth in service projects each year, with each donating at least one hour of service.

JUNIOR STAFF

The Junior Staff program at MVBGC helps members ages 13 to 18 explore careers in youth or human services, particularly at Boys & Girls Clubs. Participants engage in career development, community service, customer skills training, and complete a MVBGC apprenticeship to prepare for professional roles in human services.

SPORTS & RECREATION

At MVBGC, our sports and recreation programs are designed to promote physical fitness, teamwork, and personal growth for all children and all ages.
