HEALTH & WELLNESS PROGRAMS

BUILDING STRONG FOUNDATIONS

Our Health & Wellness programs are designed to foster positive behavior and well-being in young people. By participating, members learn to set personal goals and develop the skills necessary to become self-sufficient adults, ultimately shaping their character and future.

PASSPORT 2 MANHOOD

Passport to Manhood engages boys aged 8 to 14 in character-building discussions and activities. Each boy receives a 'passport' symbolizing his personal journey of growth through 14 interactive sessions focused on character and leadership. The program also includes a community service project, emphasizing the importance of giving back.

SMART GIRLS

SMART Girls is a health, fitness, and self-esteem program for girls aged 8 to 18. It offers dynamic sessions, participatory activities, field trips, and mentoring with adult women. Participants learn life skills such as healthy eating and mental health care, and develop positive relationships, while exploring personal and societal values.

SMART MOVES

SMART Moves (Skills Mastery and Resilience Training) targets youth aged 6 to 15, aiming to prevent drug and alcohol use and premature sexual activity. The program, involving MVBGC staff, peers, parents, and community representatives, uses discussions, role-playing, and resilience training to enhance assertiveness, decision-making skills, and media literacy. The goal is to promote responsible behavior and abstinence from substance abuse and early sexual involvement.
